We at Baboró enjoy working with like-minded people on collaborative projects. We love to collaborate with artists, educators, funders, sponsors, venues - in fact anyone who shares our passion for the importance of creativity in the lives of children!
We are involved in creative partnerships at home in Galway, all over Ireland, in Europe and beyond. Baboró would like to further strengthen and expand our partnerships and collaborations across the sector in order to position Baboró as one of the foremost players in the field of arts provision for all children in Ireland.
Rothar is a new early years show created by Branar and produced in association with Drama NUI Galway and Baboró International Arts Festival for Children as part of Creative Europe’s Mapping Project. It is a playful and dynamic production developed as part of our 2021 festival.
The Libravian was commissioned by Baboró for our 2020 Commissions Award. It is an innovative work created by Galway theatre artist James Riordan of Brú Theatre to be presented in libraries across Galway city and county for our 2021 festival.
Into the World Within Radio Drama
Into the World Within and the accompanying workshop series Sound Secrets were commissioned by Baboró to be a part of the 2021 annual festival. Both projects were created by Galway-based theatre company Moonfish Theatre and were developed specifically for the Covid-19 era.
Flying the Flag
Marking Baboró's 25th anniversary, Flying the Flag is a celebration of children’s right to experience and participate in the arts, created by two of our 2021 artists-in-residence, Judith Higgins and Miquel Barceló. Judith and Miquel, along with designer Orla Clogher, invited six schools from across Galway city and county to contribute flag designs to be incorporated into a movement piece performed by children as part of the 2021 festival.
The Veiled Ones
The Veiled Ones, a dance theatre piece for children created by Junk Ensemble, was co-commissioned for Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture by the TRACKS Network, which includes Baboró International Arts Festival for Children, Cork Midsummer Festival and Dublin Fringe Festival.
RISE (2020 - 2021)
RISE, a Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture project, comprised of a series of projects that placed the voice of the child at the heart of the performance and encouraged international artist collaboration. Originally a year-long collaboration between performance artists and children, culminating in live performances at Baboró’s October 2020 festival, RISE was presented digitally in Spring 2021, taking on a deeper meaning through delivery during a global pandemic.
Wide Eyes (2018)
In 2009, Baboró was invited to join the “Small size, big citizens’ project” and become a part of this network of artists with an enthusiastic passion for developing artistic work for younger audiences. In 2018, Baboró hosted the project’s final event: ‘Wide Eyes’ A European Celebration of Performing Arts for the Very Young.
