Family FOLD

Come and play with different materials and ideas through movement, games, and artistic prompts with artist Lucy Hill. Be guided through a series of experiments, many of which you can try again and again at home and in different contexts.

This workshop is presented in association with the FOLD visual art exhibition at Engage Art Studios.

Children must be accompanied by a ticket holding adult.

Lucy Hill is a visual artist, arts facilitator, and academic and was recently awarded a PhD in art education from NCAD (2021). Lucy proposed a posthuman ‘ethico-aesthetic’ paradigm for arts based research, which presents an alternative, artistic perspective of young children’s learning and experience with materials and objects as inclusive, diverse, relational, complex, and always more-than-human.

She has won several awards for her studio painting practice, including a residency on the artist’s work program at IMMA and four public art sculpture commissions. She has also had her academic writing published with Sage, Routledge and Intellect Books. Lucy was the inaugural John Coolahan Early Years Artist in Residence at The Ark and was an invited speaker at the International Art Education Week in Seoul Museum of Modern Art, Korea. She was voluntary resident artist with Woodland Park Preschool in Westport from 2007-2017.

Lucy works with agencies and institutions on long and short term projects that have culminated in child-friendly exhibitions. Her training includes a study visit to Reggio Emilia inspired preschools in Italy. Lucy was a Creative Associate with the Arts Council Creative Schools program from 2018-2021. She is currently an associate artist with Helium Arts.
