Não Não

Não is a mischievous little boy made of clay who discovers a world of mud, water and talc. Não likes to jump in puddles, flood the house, cover himself with flour and eat earth.

This tender and humorous performance, made entirely out of mouldable clay, explores the sensory and messy escapades of young children.

The two performers knead and crush clay in their palms to give birth to the endearing character of Não (No in Portuguese). They also explore adult emotions when facing a bold toddler for whom the forbidden holds so much joy. With songs and rhymes performed in English and French, ‘Não Não’ is pure delight.

An endearing early years show full of poetry, tenderness and sensitivity.

Company

Le Vent Des Forges

Le Vent Des Forges, based in Brittany, France was created in 2006. A lucky encounter between a pottery artist and an actress, Odile L’Hermitte and Marie Tuffin, created an unprecedented artistic medium: Le Théâtre d’Argile Manipule (hands-on clay theatre). They continue to develop their practice working with clay; not only by modelling and sculpting, but also as a way to express a scenic language as a dramatic element of the show. Each movement expressed in clay evokes a meaningful depth. As the shows progress, with their hands in the clay, the artists talk about the metamorphosis of the body and the identity.
