Night Light

The blackbird sings to welcome the night. The day slows and soon all are asleep. All except one who cannot sleep. A child, curious to know who looks after the night.

And so begins a magical journey through the dark and beautiful night until the black bird sings again to welcome a new day.

Teater Refleksion and Andy Manley are internationally regarded for their poignant and poetic shows for the very young. Audiences will be immersed in a magical universe surrounded by a beautifully designed structure.

Andy Manley works extensively in the UK and internationally. His work for young audiences includes: White, Martha, Kappa, The Ballad of Pondlife McGurk, and more.

Teater Refleksion are a highly regarded theatre company based in Denmark. Their work uses puppets and animation onstage to create a space in which children and adults can immerse themselves.

Parking: Distillery Road Car Park, located next to the Kingfisher Club NUIG, is a 9 minute walk from O'Donoghue Centre.

Public: Galway city bus route 405 stops at the entrance to NUIG which is a 1 minute walk to O'Donoghue Centre.

Walking: O'Donoghue Centre is located on the grounds of NUI Galway and is a 6 minute walk from Town Hall Theatre.

Night Light was commissioned by Imaginate and is co-produced with Red Bridge Arts, and supported through the Scottish Government’s Edinburgh Festivals Expo Fund, The Danish Arts Foundation and the Municipality of Aarhus.
