About Our Team

While the year round Baboró team is small and mighty, the festival would not exist without an entire community of enthusiastic and dedicated people who join us each autumn and grow our team tenfold. We rely on passionate volunteers and seasonal staff to help us bring quality arts and creative experiences to the youth of Galway every October.

Baboró is committed to reflecting the diverse and multicultural Ireland of today within our festival team. We want to support you to help build this community.

As a festival team member, you will receive a Baboró T-shirt and lanyard, which can be used to get you into Baboró events for free if there is capacity. You will also be invited to our end-of-festival wrap party–a chance for all festival staff and team to celebrate together.

Please note: All new applicants will be interviewed by our Festival Team Coordinator. Applicants may be Garda Vetted.

Volunteers and Stewards undergo training and are briefed on our Child Protection Policy before joining the festival team.

Apply to be a Festival Volunteer

Due to a high number of submissions, this application has been temporarily closed.

Thank you so much to everyone who has signed up so far, we are delighted by such astonishing enthusiasm!

Since our foundation in 1997, volunteers have helped us to achieve our hopes and dreams, to inspire children to engage with the world through their experience of the arts. We have grown year on year, thanks to the generosity of people volunteering their time to us. We like to provide a rewarding volunteer experience – from seeing how the festival operates ‘behind the scenes’ to becoming part of a team that brings the festival to life, you help us create an extraordinary experience for children and families alike!

We recruit a large number of volunteers to assist with the running of the festival. Festival Volunteers provide essential support to the stewards and Front of House Managers, while also greeting and assisting incoming audiences.

As a volunteer you’ll be based in different venues throughout the city, helping to create a positive Baboró experience for audiences. Volunteering during our festival is also a wonderful way to meet a great bunch of people, with many returning to volunteer year after year.

Not only do volunteers make the festival possible, they also enhance the overall festival experience for everyone and are an essential and appreciated part of our team.

“It is always very enjoyable meeting other volunteers and being part of the event”

Apply to be a Festival Steward

Due to a high number of submissions, this application has been temporarily closed.

Thank you so much to everyone who has signed up so far, we are delighted by such astonishing enthusiasm!

We recruit a number of stewards for Baboró's annual festival. Stewards support the Front of House Managers and are a vital part of the Festival team.

As one of our stewards, you are helping to ensure the festival runs smoothly and the festival attendees enjoy their experience fully. Baboró stewards support the Front of House Managers in relation to the safety and welfare of our all important audience members. Ideally, stewards would help Front of House Managers with a full run of a specific show or event.

Stewarding positions are paid roles and are limited. Preference will be given to those with experience from previous Baboró festivals and those with availability for 6 hour shifts over at least 2 consecutive days.

“It's a magical festival and I love stewarding and meeting audiences and artists..it's inspiring”
