A professional workshop, led by Dutch-Slovenian choreographer Jasper Džuki Jelen, creator of Wonderwalkers, a participatory show created especially for the classroom.
Participants will explore the artistic potential of inviting audience participation and collaboration in performances created for non-traditional venues. With a mixture of lecture and physical activities, Jasper will provide you with a practical framework to observe and evaluate interaction and authenticity in movement. Together with other participants you will experiment with the 'neurology of safety' - a prerequisite for a trusting connection between performer and audience members. Through exercises and games you'll explore how speed, facial expression and choice influence peoples’ openness (or resistance) to connect and play with performers.
Please dress comfortably and bring water and a packed lunch.
Presented in partnership with TYAI.
Jasper Džuki Jelen is the choreographer of Wonderwalkers by The100Hands which is playing in Galway schools throughout the festival. If possible, we recommend seeing the show by contacting delegate@baboro.ie. Please note, there will be limited availability.
