Join visual artist Jane Hayes for an informal talk and walk-through of her exhibition First Impressions, created especially for young children and their families. Jane will share insights into her process, from early research and playful testing with her own children to the realities of making work for galleries that invites touch, movement, and discovery. This conversation will explore the unique opportunities, and very real challenges, of creating meaningful visual art experiences for early years audiences, including how to balance artistic ambition with accessibility, and how to make space for the child’s voice within the gallery context.
With over a decade of experience in early years arts practice, Jane brings a thoughtful, honest and creative perspective to this growing area of visual art. A great opportunity for artists, educators and anyone curious about how art for young children is made and understood. All ages welcome.
