Discover the bright and colourful animation process behind The Sound Nest installation with artist Jane Cassidy. Jane will guide participants through the process of creating abstract stop-motion animation, offering insight into her techniques. 

Experiment with DIY stop-motion animation using accessible materials like crayons, paper cutouts and everyday craft supplies. Attendees will craft their own animations using free software on their own phones or tablets. Some tablets are supplied if required. 

Jane Cassidy, a multi-disciplinary artist and educator from Galway, creates immersive audio-visual environments through installation, video, music composition, and electronics. Recently, she partnered with That’s Life on The Sound Nest, an animated graphic score developed with a music ensemble of adults with intellectual disabilities. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Knoxville Museum of Art, Pallas Projects, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, the University of New Orleans, and the Ann Arbor Film Festival. Most recently, she collaborated with Arts Alive on Tactile Tunes for the 2025 Galway International Arts Festival.
