What would Galway look like if children were put in charge? How can we return to our innate connection to nature and welcome it in to urban spaces? This workshop series encourages children to design and build a cityscape with nature, creativity and fun at it's core. Solar panel sidewalks? Sure! Houses in treetops? Why not?!

An immersive hands-on workshop led by Lindsay Deely of Toodlelou Creativity Labs, exploring the wild spaces of Ireland's past to imagine how we can live together with nature.

Imagining the future depends on much the same part of our brain as we use for remembering the past. By learning about the past, we can look forward in a way that helps us to restore the natural world and our relationship with it. Using simple upcycled materials and their wild imaginations, children will work collaboratively, building on one another’s ideas, to create a miniature green city that holds the ancient past and natural environment in the highest regard.

If your young creative loves building things and using their wild imagination, join us to build a future city where humans and nature can thrive.

Workshop delivered in English. Introduction and creative prompts are in English and Irish language.

Sun 19 from 14:30 - 16:00 WeWild exhibition open to public.

Lindsay Deely is an art and science educator, practitioner, and researcher whose work lies at the intersection of these two disciplines. With a strong commitment to expanding access to both art and science, particularly for underserved communities, her work aims to inspire young people to explore the world around them through creative, hands-on experiences that boost confidence and curiosity.

In 2012, Lindsay founded Toodlelou Creativity Lab, an art and science makerspace based in Co. Galway. Through this initiative, she has designed and facilitated numerous workshops that merge artistic expression with scientific exploration. These workshops have impacted over 12,000 children by partnering with community groups, national science public engagement programmes, schools, libraries, museums, and festivals. She has been curating workshops for Baboró since 2017.

As a Baboró Artist in Residence, Lindsay looks forward to working with young people to co-create new work that will foster meaningful relationships with young participants, enriching their festival experiences and promoting continuous engagement with the arts and sciences.

This event is presented in both English and Irish.
