Baboró is looking for children who will be starting 4th class in September 2026 to join our Children’s Panel to ensure their voices are included in our planning and decision making.
The Baboró Children's Panel is a platform for young people in Galway city and county to feel welcome, heard, represented and supported in their creativity. The panel meets once a month to take part in fun creative workshops. They also spend a day attending shows and events at our October festival, experiencing Baboró 'behind-the-scenes'.
Who is eligible to apply?
All children who meet the following criteria are welcome to apply:
- Must be entering 4th class in September 2026
- Must live in Galway city or county
- Must be available to attend monthly Saturday activities in Galway city from September 2026 to June 2027 (with option to extend participation for an additional year)
What is the time commitment?
Children's Panel creative workshops take place once a month, on Saturday afternoons in Galway city. Workshops take place from September until June.
In October, the Panel will spend a day attending the Baboró festival together. This year's Baboró festival will take place Friday 9 - Sunday 18 October 2026.
How can my child apply?
- Make some art! It can be a drawing, painting, short piece of writing or even a video in response to the prompt:
"Show us something creative that you have seen or done that you found exciting."
- Please complete this form with your child by Sunday 24 May.
- Submit the artwork to outreach@baboro.ie with the subject line "Baboró Children's Panel" and your child's name.
Applications should be filled out by a parent or guardian and should take about 5 minutes to complete. An application form should be filled out for each child applying.
If you need any help applying please email Children's Panel facilitator outreach@baboro.ie.
When will I find out if the application was successful?
All applicants will be contacted in late June. There are 10 vacant places on the Panel at this time so not all applicants will receive a place.
After their first year on the panel, children will be given the option to remain on the panel for a second year, until June 2028.

Baboró International Arts Festival for Children is Ireland’s flagship arts festival dedicated to children and families.
Baboró is a registered charity which works year- round to bring meaningful arts experiences to children in our community and to support artists making work for young audiences.
Our annual international festival dedicated to children is the beating heart of what we do – it’s what we work towards all year. To complement the festival, we support and nurture artists and creatives in Ireland to make excellent and innovative work for our young audiences. And we continue to reach out into our community in an effort to break down barriers to participation, so that everyone can feel that they belong at Baboró – that they are both seen and heard.
The 2026 Baboró festival will take place from Friday 11 - Sunday 20 October in Galway.
