Into the World Within

Moonfish Theatre

Into the World Within is an audio drama for children.

Into the World Within and the accompanying workshop series Sound Secrets were commissioned by Baboró to be a part of the 2021 annual festival. Both projects were created by Galway-based theatre company Moonfish Theatre and were developed specifically for the Covid-19 era.

Into the World Within is an audio drama for children. It was recorded using live sound effects created by foley artists working alongside the voice actors. The story follows two siblings living in lockdown during Covid-19 who use their imaginations to journey into the mythic realm of Tír na nOg where they encounter magical creatures and unexpected obstacles, ultimately discovering that stories don’t always end the way you might expect.

The workshop series Sound Secrets teaches participants how to make their own radio plays. After listening to Into the World Within, children will be encouraged to develop their own story and then shown how to employ the art of foley to create a sonic landscape for their piece using items found in the home or classroom.
