The second programme, Pathways to Production will facilitate artist’s development from the kernel of an idea; to concept development; to project planning; to help developing funding strategies. The emphasis of the programme is on the process of development of new work for young audiences and artist development rather than the end project. Together with their partners Druid Theatre Company, Mick Lally Theatre, Branar Téatar do Pháistí and Galway Theatre Festival, Baboró will make their collective resources available to participants in the hopes of developing sustainable careers and creative opportunities for Irish artists in the sector. Baboró is also delighted to have The Irish Theatre (ITI) partnering in an advisory capacity.

One of last years’ participants, Manuela Corbari said “Being one of the participants of GROW – Pathways to Production has been a great opportunity. It can be daunting to not know how to practically progress from the seed of an idea. The resources offered by different partners made the process much easier, not only to have the financial contribution, but also the space to explore and the space to perform, precious feedback from audiences and peers, technical support and assistance with applications.”

Baboró’s Executive Artistic Director Aislinn Ó hEocha commented, “We were delighted with the response to our new GROW programme in 2017. The artists involved in Festival Mentoring and Pathways to Production find the schemes really beneficial to their practice. opportunities to see a range of international work, build Irish and international networks and learn from each other and the partners have proven invaluable. We are really looking forward to seeing who emerges from the 2018 open call.”

Deadline for applications is Friday, August 24 with successful candidates being announced on Monday, September 17. Application forms and guidelines can be downloaded here.

GROW is funded by the Art’s Council’s Strategic Funding.
