Baboró's 30th Festival

Join us this October 9 - 18 to celebrate Baboró's 30th festival!

We are planning a special festival to celebrate 30 years of Baboró. As well as an exciting programme of performances, exhibitions and workshops throughout the city and county, audiences can expect free festival events on the streets of Galway and an expanded schools touring programme.

Baboró was born out of the Galway International Arts Festival shortly after the Irish State ratified the UN Rights of the Child. In 1997 Baboró became its own entity as a five day festival for children in October. This move ensured more children could participate in the festival through their schools. Since then the festival has reached an audience of almost half a million children, families and teachers.

The generosity of the Galway community has sustained Baboró for 30 years. As a non-profit we are completely reliant on grants and donations and are very grateful to our ongoing funders and donors, collaborators and audiences.

We look forward to sharing our full festival programme later in the summer and celebrating 30 years of Baboró together.
