Announcing Changes to the Baboró Board

Baboró International Arts Festival for Children welcomes a new Chair of the Board of Trustees while also saying thank you and goodbye to three highly respected members.

Cian O'Brien Steps Down

Cian O’Brien's eight years on the board, with the past four years as Chair, has come to an end. Cian’s clear and decisive leadership has been invaluable during this period, guiding the board and Baboró team through extraordinary times with clarity and creativity. We are extremely grateful for his generosity and unwavering support of the team and organisation.

"It has been an absolute pleasure to serve on the board of Baboró over the past eight years. Working alongside my fellow board members, Aislinn and the inspiring team has been a true honour as we’ve brought ambitious, world-class work to the children of Galway City and County. Baboró has grown into a vibrant, year-round organisation and I couldn't be prouder to have played a role in its journey. Long may it continue!" - Cian O'Brien

"Thank you to Cian for his generous support of Baboró for the past eight years. His wide experience and deep knowledge of the arts sector in Ireland and abroad has been hugely beneficial to us as a team and to me as Director. Cian's professionalism, kindness and warmth as Chair will not be forgotten." - Aislinn ÓhEocha

Dani Gill as New Chair

We are also thrilled to welcome Dani Gill as Chairperson. A long-time friend of Baboró, an artist and a passionate advocate for the arts, Dani brings a wealth of experience and vision to this role.

Dani joined the Baboró board this past year alongside Marie Donnellan (CEO, Platform 94) and wildlife documentary presenter Eoin Warner.

"Baboró is a special festival for the city and county of Galway. The imagination, joy and inspiration it provides for children and adults alike is unrivaled. I am very honoured to become Chairperson of this incredible flagship event, and I look forward to working with my fellow board members and the super talented team who deliver magic every year." - Dani Gill

"I am delighted to welcome Dani as Chair of Baboró as we approach Baboró's 30th Anniversary next year. Dani's varied experience as an artist, author, producer and festival director is a huge asset to the organisation and I very much look forward to working with her to realise Baboró's vision." - Aislinn ÓhEocha

Farewell to Hilary Morley and Mary Rodgers

We would also like to say a heart felt goodbye to board members Hilary Morley (Secretary) and Mary Rodgers. Hilary and Mary were both appointed to Baboró board in 2019 and have been a huge asset to the team ever since. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication and work over the past six years.

Here’s to a new chapter for the Baboró Board of Trustees! We look forward to what the future brings.
