Baboró 2025: Celebrating big imaginations this October

As Ireland’s flagship international arts festival for children, we are delighted to bring world-class performances to Galway this October.

Now in our 29th year, we at Baboró International Arts Festival for Children (running from 10 to 19 October 2025) are proud to present an extraordinary programme of theatre, dance, circus, puppetry, literature, visual art and workshops for audiences from newborns to teens. Featuring artists from Ireland and around the world, our ten-day festival brings magical moments to children across Galway city, county and beyond.

International circus and dance light up this year’s programme with high-energy performances like Double You from Belgium, an exploration of borders, identity and the fear of missing out. Copiar from Spain, an exploration of imitation and the stigma around copying. Dance works by Cie par Terre and Anne Nguyen, Matière(s) première(s) and [Superstrat[, blend African dance, street styles and contemporary movement into breathtaking performances that captivate audiences young and old.

There is a wide range of events designed with accessibility in mind, including ISL interpretation, touch tours, captions and audio description. We’re also proud to offer nine relaxed events, ten non-verbal performances and two pieces created especially for children with additional needs a performance and an interactive installation. First Impressions, an exhibition designed especially for early years and The Sound Nest, an interactive music installation, are among these experiences on offer.

A vibrant series of creative workshops will allow young people to write, draw, dance, sing, make comics, explore the shoreline and even record their own songs.

“Baboró is about creating space for children to engage with big ideas, to laugh, to imagine and to see themselves reflected in extraordinary art. We believe every child deserves the chance to experience the arts in a way that inspires confidence, empathy and joy. We hope that this year’s festival experience will be the first of many.”

From world-class international artists to homegrown Irish talent, the festival is a showcase of creativity that transforms everyday spaces into places of wonder.
