Be Baboró's Hero

It’s been an exciting past few weeks for Baboró! On Thursday, May 26th, Baboró launched our new Business Supporters and Sponsorship Scheme with a coffee morning at Hotel Meyrick.

During the event, an inspiring speech was delivered by Baboró board member and Professor of Drama and Theatre Studies at NUI Galway, Patrick Lonergan. Dr. Lonergan highlighted the importance of creativity and wonder not only for children, but for our society as a whole.

“Baboró…is giving [our children] the opportunity to be creative,” he said. “And it’s that capacity – that saying, ‘I wonder what will happen if…’ That’s what artists do. But that’s what entrepreneurs do, as well. The next Irish entrepreneur who makes a billion must start with the words, ‘I wonder what will happen if…’ The person who cures cancer will start with the words, ‘I wonder what will happen if…’"

Now in its 20th year, Baboró International Arts Festival for Children has long been inspiring these very words in children nationwide, reigniting the magic of the imagination for the whole family every October during its seven-day festival. Through successful collaborations in the past, the festival, together with its sponsors and supporters, has developed innovative projects which have engaged the hearts and minds of almost 300,000 children. Baboró’s work is not over yet – but we need your help in order to continue to inspire and to promote creativity.

Baboró’s Executive Artistic Director, Aislinn Ó hEocha, commented, “Our sponsors and supporters are the very lifeblood of Baboró. There’s so much we’d like to do to continue enriching the lives of children in Galway, and we hope that the business community in Galway would like to help us do just that.”

Baboró is grateful for the tremendous support Galway’s business community has demonstrated over the years – we are very lucky to have such strong and loyal local network.

Now, we would love the opportunity to develop partnerships with new festival supporters. Be it through sponsorship, our Business Hero Campaign, by joining Birdie's Family Club, or by becoming a Baboró Patron, you can help us make 2016, our 20th festival, our best one to date!

If you’re passionate about the arts and believe in the importance of creativity in the lives of children, if you love the work that Baboró does and would like to support them, or if you’d simply like to find out more, please contact Baboró at friends@baboro.ie or call 091 562667 to discuss the right scheme for you.

“One of the great things about being a parent is you spend the first part of your life getting to know the world – seeing how it works, trying to understand it – and then when you become a parent, you get to see it again, through the eyes of your children.” – Patrick Lonergan
