TRACKS: Open Call for Visual Artists

Are you a visual artist based in Ireland with a strong interest in creating a new project for young people in 2019? We want to hear from you!

TRACKS is a network of festivals committed to co-commissioning and presenting dynamic artistic works for children and young audiences. The partnering festivals are Baboró International Festival for Children, Cork Midsummer Festival and Dublin Fringe Festival.

The TRACKS partners are excited to launch an open call for bold and engaging proposals from artists working in a visual medium to make work for audiences aged 0 – 12 years. The project should be conceived for installation inside a 20ft shipping container, like the one pictured below. The container will be placed in public space in each city.

The chosen work will be presented at all three festivals. The timeline is as follows:

Open Call deadline: 26th April 2019

Commission Confirmed: 10th May 2019

Dublin Fringe Festival premiere: 7th – 22nd September 2019

Baboró, Galway presentation: 14th – 20th October 2019

Cork Midsummer Festival presentation: 12th – 21st June 2020

  • The commissioning award consists of €6000, covering artist fees and materials.
  • Transport and installation costs will be covered by the presenting festivals.
  • Young Radicals Co-Programmer Kate Ferris will liaise with the artists and provide presentation supports as required.

Visual artists (individual or collaborative group) at any stage of their career, working in any medium, with an interest in making work for young audiences in a festival context.

The partners are committed to supporting diverse work and we welcome applications from artists of all genders, nationalities, races, cultural backgrounds, ages, religions, languages, different abilities, sexual orientation, socioeconomic statuses or geographical regions. We are an equal opportunities network and accessibility within the work is a high priority.
